Sandra Popaďáková (1990), born in Trenčín, studied art teaching in Banská Bystrica, where she also received a doctorate in didactics of art. During her studies, she completed an internship at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Krakow in Kraków focused on graphic design. She currently works as a teacher and head of the art department at the J. Cikker School of Arts in Banská Bystrica. In her creating process, she looks for new experimental forms of graphics, such as “plate engraving”. “Vinylcut” is her author’s technique, where she inscribes her authentic traces into a clean unlabeled vinyl record and thus creates original multi-colored graphics, which are different from her “painterly” application of paint on a circular matrix. By imperfectly layering the paint, she thus reacts to the perfect shape of the circle, which she perceives as a certain fluid flowing through time.
In addition to graphics, she also works on jewelry and textile creations.
