Vendula Vaculová was born in Uherské Hradiště in 1995. After studying at the local grammar school she moved to Prague and began studying Hispanic Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University. During her studies, she discovered that what she really wanted was to devote herself to art, specifically painting. However, studying Hispanistics had given her the opportunity to travel to South America to become aquainted with countries such as Peru and Ecuador. After returning to the Czech Republic, she entered the Art & Design Institute college, where she currently studies in the painting studio of Roman Franta.
In her paintings, Vendula explores interpersonal relationships and characteristics through various situations in which people find themselves, either due to circumstances or by their own doing. Human reactions in these often borderline situations then become the direct subject of her work. Her main medium is realistic oil painting, but she also takes interest in drawing and photography. In the past, Vendula was part of the art collective MeetArt, which was based in Prague’s Vršovice. She now works in her studio based in Letná.
